New apps are being added to the Sandstorm App Market every week covering a wide range of use cases.
We have apps for document editing, chat, task management, file storage, email, music playing, code hosting, forums, games, and more. Check them out on the Sandstorm App Market.
Once you sign into Sandstorm, all your apps know who you are. No need to sign in to each one individually and remember dozens of passwords.
You can share any Sandstorm "grain" (such as a document or a chat room) with your friends or teammates using one common sharing interface.
Create a survey form that feeds into a spreadsheet, attach a document to a chat message, or give a scheduling app access to your calendar. All these interactions are handled through Sandstorm's "Powerbox" UI, which lets apps find each other and lets you grant permissions easily and securely.
Sandstorm implements a wide range of measures designed to protect against security bugs in apps. Most bugs that would be serious security problems on other platforms either don't matter at all on Sandstorm or have drastically reduced impact.
Read our docs to learn how it works.
A Sandstorm app cannot talk to the rest of the world unless you give it permission. That means you can put sensitive secrets in any app and rest assured that your data is safe. It also means that apps cannot "phone home" to their developers in order to spy on you.
You can always see who has access to your grains -- including people with whom you shared and other grains to which you connected it -- and you can revoke these connections at any time.
When you install an app on Sandstorm, you can see exactly who created the app package, including such details as their verified Twitter and GitHub accounts, verified domain names, and their PGP key fingerprint.
Just like your web browser, it's important to keep Sandstorm up-to-date. Self-hosted Sandstorm updates itself automatically in-place with no action needed by you. All updates are cryptographically signed and verified.
Quickly see and switch between your open grains.
You can download a .zip backup of any grain with one click. You can also automatically backup all your data to the cloud, encrypted.
Notifications from all apps are collected in one place, much like on your phone.
Many apps, such as Wekan and Rocket.Chat, allow you to @-mention other users like you would on Twitter or GitHub. @-mentioning optionally notifies the target and shares with them.
Search across all your data from all apps in one place.
Connect your Sandstorm account to multiple external identities, such as Twitter or GitHub accounts, so that people can share with you using the identity they already know you by.
